Multidisciplinary firms and the Legal Services Act

The Legal Services Act has now come into force and many practices may be looking at the possibility of becoming multi disciplinary. The biggest argument from accountancy practices is that they do not want to be openly competing with their local legal practices either because:

• they may be clients or because
• they are already working with several local legal practices and they are good referrers of business.

As the UK200Group has a membership from both professions, a member firm can remain a single discipline and honestly say so. It can genuinely say to clients and potential clients that not only do they work with other professionals locally but have access to nationwide skills from practices across the country.
